A new fishing stern trawler for Norwegian shipowner, Engenes Fiskeriselskap, has launched at Gondan shipyard in Figueras in northern Spain.

The Magne Arvesen has a length of 69.9m, a beam of 16m and has been designed by Kongsberg Maritime which has also supplied the main equipment.

Built in steel with an aluminium superstructure, the stern trawler will operate mainly in the northern Atlantic, Barents Sea and Svalbard waters.

Designed for the heading, gutting and freezing of whole white fish, the trawler has automated fish processing equipment and a freezing hold capacity of 1,400m3. With accommodation for 29 crew, the trawler will be classified by DNV GL and will be ice class certified.
