This year’s Holland Fisheries Event, which had been due to take place 2-3rd October and would have been the eleventh occasion the event has been held, has been cancelled amid rising uncertainty around Covid-19.
The pandemic’s current negative trend and a toughening of restrictions in both the Netherlands and elsewhere in Europe have convinced the board of Stichting Visserijdagen Urk, the organiser of Holland Fisheries Event, to cancel this year’s exhibition. The next Holland Fisheries Event has been scheduled for 7-8th October 2022.
“Despite all the precautions we can take, in the end it just proved too difficult to guarantee that we can organise a successful event in a safe environment,” says Klaas-Jelle Koffeman, chairman of Stichting Visserijdagen Urk.
The board has has been in close contact with key stakeholders about the decision; the municipality of Urk, main sponsor Flynth advisers and accountants, main media partner Visserijnieuws and the exhibition location De Koningshof.
“The exhibition organisation has received sympathetic responses from exhibitors concerning the decision that has been taken. HFE is currently investigating the possibilities that online media can offer in the field of virtual presentations and meetings on the same date,” Klaas-Jelle Koffeman said.
