A new trawler taking shape at the Armón Navia Shipyard for Namibian company Seacope Freezer Fishing is being outfitted with electric winch systems designed and produced by Ibercisa Deck Machinery.

This is the company’s third order from this region over the last two years.

Olupale is being fitted out with a pair of 35-tonne, 320kW main trawl winches with an integral Ibercisa autotrawl system and Scantrol symmetry control, and with a two management screens in the wheelhouse and one in the engine room.

An alliance with Siemens means that the electrical system is supplied with two 380kW AFE (Active Front Ends) which allow for energy regeneration, with an extremely low harmonics level (less than 3%). The system also includes liquid cooling of the electrical motors for the main winches.

Ibercisa is also supplying the 30-tonne net drum, plus sweepline, outhaul and codend winches, and a package of auxiliary, docking and anchor winches.

The Ibercisa fishing system is equipped with data registration and remote control access which allows data analysis to help the owner monitor the deck equipment from shore, and to enable 24/7 remote support from Ibercisa’s technical team. This is co-ordinated with a local technical service in Namibia, Export Radopa, providing a high level of after-sales technical assistance.
