We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and dedicated professional with excellent communication skills to join Seafish in our new role as Northern Ireland Aquaculture Project Officer.
Seafish is here to give the UK seafood sector the support it needs to thrive. Our work makes a huge difference. It keeps fishermen safe, supports sustainable sourcing, helps businesses work efficiently and boosts the nation’s health. We work in partnership with businesses and organisations from across the seafood sector and engage in everything from research to campaigns, insight and training.
Working as part of the Seafish Responsible Sourcing team, you will play a crucial role on behalf of the Northern Ireland aquaculture sector, to build stakeholder relationships, strengthen support to deliver sustainable growth as part of the Blue Economy, and in support of the objectives of the Marine Plan for Northern Ireland. You will also be responsible for identifying current aquaculture funding opportunities and future financial needs associated with green growth, climate change and the new trading landscape.
The successful candidate will be an excellent organiser and project manager, skilled at providing first class secretariat support services to industry / government committees, and an ability to distil scientific information to produce non-technical, user-friendly resources. A strong understanding of aquaculture production and/or practical experience of carrying out applied science in the sector would be a distinct advantage.
