Seafood from Scotland, in partnership with Scotland Development International, is bringing a taste of Scottish seafood to the US with a virtual reception on 23 July.
The one-hour webinar will celebrate the provenance and quality of the produce while giving potential buyers the opportunity to ask questions about the current Scottish sector.
“Covid-19 has had a severe impact across the food and drink sector in Scotland,” said Scottish Minister for Trade, Investment and Innovation, Ivan McKee. ”The United States is a key market for Scottish seafood and our producers look forward to develop the market further.”
Award-winning personal chef, Mark Heirs, who featured on BBC’s Masterchef the Professionals, will serve up Scottish seafood dishes during a live cookery demo from his home. Also on hand at the event will be representatives from three prominent Scottish seafood businesses including Wester Ross Salmon, Loch Fyne Oysters Ltd and MacNeil Shellfish.
The event will be hosted by Clare MacDougall, head of trade marketing for North America at Seafood Scotland. “After Seafood Expo North America was cancelled this year, we had to think of a creative way to continue to nurture and expand our relationships within the vitally important US market,” she said. “The virtual reception will provide the perfect opportunity for the Scottish delegation to remain visible in the market and give those responsible for making purchasing and buying decisions about our world-class seafood in the states, valuable insights about the Scottish sector.”
