Faroese fishing company Havborg has placed a design contract with Norwegian naval architect Skipsteknisk for a new factory trawler to be built at Tersan. The designer and yard have a strong relationship and have together delivered many new sophisticated factory vessels.
The new trawler for Mortan Johannessen’s company Havborg is a ST-119 design, developed in close collaboration with the owners to ensure safe and efficient operation with optimal energy utilisation and minimal emissions to both water and air. The trawler will have an 87.50 metre overall length with an 18 metre beam, and a comprehensive processing layout on board will provide systems for handling both whitefish fillets and shrimp, as well as incorporating possibilities for handling pelagic species and a fishmeal plant. The refrigerated fishroom will have a 2250m3 capacity.
The deck layout includes four trawl winches, plus being prepared for the addition of a fifth winch at a later date, opening possibilities for towing four trawls.
Fishing company Havborg and Skipsteknisk have shared history already, as thirty years ago sister company Enniberg took delivery of a Skipsteknisk-designed factory from the Mjellen and Karlsen yard in Bergen, which will continue to operate alongside the new vessel when it is delivered in 2022.
